Daniel Clutton

Daniel is an experienced teacher from North Wales. He graduated from the University of Liverpool with a degree in Modern History and has worked for several different employers, including Oxford University Press and KPMG, as well as many schools and academic institutions across China. Daniel sees learning English as an opportunity for fun, communication and discovery. In his class, students get the chance to express themselves and to learn to think for themselves. He has successfully taught thousands of students of all ages and backgrounds. When not in the classroom Daniel enjoys walking his dog, watching movies and trying to cook!


Matthew Dunton

Matt grew up on the southern coast of Texas, where he developed a love for the ocean, sports, and academics. In high school he began competing in debate, public speaking, accounting, and current events, landing a top ten finish in the Texas debate finals. After graduating fourth in his high school class, Matt attended top 100 university Texas A&M, College Station. It was there that he studied business administration and graduated with honors. After graduating, he went on to work for an oil company, Baker Hughes, before rediscovering his passion for education. Matt spent four years teaching English in Europe before coming to China, and bringing his passion for debate and speaking with him.  He has been with New Pathway for the entirety of his time in China, fostering a learning environment based on experience, encouragement, and fun.

Samantha Ericson

After graduating with a Master’s degree in TESOL from Central Washington University, Sammy came to China with a passion for teaching English. Sammy has lived and worked in China for 5 years and in that time, she has developed her teaching skills and philosophy. Sammy believes that a classroom environment that promotes creative and critical thinking is the most effective for students. Utilizing a communicative teaching method in the classroom, Sammy strives to encourage students and help them reach their English goals. In her free time, Sammy likes to watch movies, play video games, read and hang out with her dog Lucy.

Taylor Gassaway

Taylor has a long-standing history of working with children. His first experiences as a teacher was in high school where he spent two years teaching reading, writing, math, and social skills to children with special needs. After graduating from university with his Bachelor’s Degree in Communication and a minor in Mandarin Chinese, Taylor spent two years in the digital marketing world, writing and editing English content for professional use. Taylor takes an interactive approach to learning English emphasizing productive skills like writing and speaking. In his free time, Taylor continues to work with language through perpetual study of Chinese and various creative writing pursuits.


Thomas Hudson

After graduating from the University of Bath, in the UK with a bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry and Business Management, Tom moved to Shanghai to pursue international business communications. Dissatisfied with corporate life, Tom made the transition to teaching full time, and has never looked back. His previous teaching experience ranges from applied English for primary school aged children, to focused one-on-one language instruction for corporate employees. Outside of teaching, Tom is focused on improving his Chinese language skills.

Xavier

Xavier is a graduate from Oklahoma State University with a B.S in Management Information System and a minor in Economics. He has been involved in business development and implementation for 7 years and supervised multimillion dollar projects for companies such as Booz Allen and Hamilton and Qualcomm. During his three years at EIC/New Pathway he has served as a program manager for  ELA and currently holds the position of the Center Director for the Puxi region.  For the past year, Xavier has been actively involved in the design and implementation of our current ELA program and constantly helping our student reach their true potential. During his free time, you will find him travelling and participating in different sporting events.
